LIBERAL ARTS/SCIENCES 300: Global Issues (3 credit hours)
   
Why? Major world problems are seen from the diverse perspectives of disciplines in five colleges of the University, so that the student can judge what the academic community has to contribute to human survival. Issues are seen especially in relation to war and peace.
Content: Social science analyzes structures and processes of society, history records these, natural science adds evidence from the physical world, while the humanities evaluates and restructures.
Format: Lectures of one hour each by two dozen faculty members from 18 departments and 5 colleges/discussion.
Evaluation: Three essay exams, research paper.
Recommended for: Students interested in human ideas and values, social issues, disciplinary and interdisciplinary methodologies.

Note: Because of the interdisciplinary nature of the course, students may request that credit be applied in Humanities or Social and Behavioral Sciences.
