CHEMISTRY 301: Issues and Perspectives in Chemistry (3)
   
Why? Explores synthesized molecules that play a role in everyday life, their biological and environmental risks, and the social issues that arise in their use.
Content: Chemistry in the marketplace.
Format: Lecture/discussion/group and individual presentations.
Evaluation: Essays, group and individual projects.
Prerequisite: Students who have completed Chemistry 101, 103, or 211. Informal-desired prerequisites are English 101-102 and/or public speaking and elementary Math Statistics -- enough to evaluate significance of research. It would be helpful if students have taken 100-level courses in economics and/or social sciences.
