LAS I 101, Introduction to the University

This course, created specifically for the first-year student, will assist students in developing and refining personal and academic success skills. In addition, it will provide opportunities for one-on one interaction with other students as well as WSU faculty.


2-HOUR CREDIT COURSES

LAS I 102, Topics in Career Exploration

Topics in Career Exploration is intended to assist any student in initiating career exploration activities and educational planning strategies. It is particularly helpful for students declaring themselves as "deciding" students or students who seek structured, formal assistance in career choice or choice of academic major. However, it may also be useful for students considering career changes, students wanting to narrow their focus within a broad field of study, or for students wanting to confirm an educational/occupational choice they have made or are considering. LASI 100, Personal and Academic Success Seminar

PASS is a semester long, two credit hour course offered through LASAC and is mandatory for all NCAA athletes upon entering WSU, with special focus on freshmen. Designed to address issues facing student-athletes during their first year on campus, the course addresses areas related to personal and social coping skills as well as academic skills. Campus personnel who enhance and facilitate student success are identified and introduced as resources. Student-athletes are expected to enroll and successfully complete all course requirements. 1-HOUR CREDIT COURSE

LAS I 100A, Returning Adult Seminar

Returning Adult Seminar is especially designed for returning adults who want an introduction and ongoing orientation to the university. Topics include initial academic needs assessment, initial career exploration concepts, introduction to study strategies and stress management and developing an awareness of university resources. Students will receive assistance with academic advising and planning. This course is intended for adults who have never attended college or who have been out of college for several years. LAS I 100A may be used to replace participation in new student orientation programs. Offered fall, spring and summer semester; day and evening sections; main campus and Westside Center; offered in one-evening & one-day formats
