Maximum time frame for receiving financial assistance as an undergraduate student may not exceed 186 attempted hours; maximum time frame for receiving financial assistance as a graduate student may not exceed 54 attempted hours. Maximum attempted hours include transfer and WSU hours. First semester students at Wichita Sate University who do not complete the number of hours required or meet the required grade point average will be placed on financial aid probation. This is not academic probation. If you do not complete the required hours and have the required grade point average by the end of the second semester, you will be ineligible to receive further aid until you have met all requirements. At that time students will be placed on "No Progress." Please note that incompletes will be accepted when counting the number of hours completed as those hours will have to be finished during the next enrollment period. Credit/No Credit courses will be accepted as enrolled hours -- receiving non-credit will be counted as not passing and receiving credit will count as passing. Remedial courses will also be counted in the number of hours a student may carry to receive assistance.
The Student Financial Planning and Assistance staff will alert you if you are not in compliance with this policy at the end of each semester. You will be notified that you are on probation, or after the end of the second semester that you are on "No Progress." You will then have an opportunity to explain in writing any special circumstances you feel should be considered. If approved, aid may be continued.
