Guidelines to Late Drop
from the Current Semester*
(*before grades have been issued)
SEE AN ADVISOR BEFORE COMPLETING PETITION
(call your College Office for an
appointment)
Part I
- Request permission to late drop specific courses (including
the section numbers) for a specific semester or summer term.
- Accompanying the properly completed petition must be a drop
slip for each class and/or lab with the instructor's signature and a Request to
Late Drop form.
Part II
- State the reason for the lateness of your request.
- If your request is selective, explain why you want
to withdraw from only that/those course(s) rather than a complete withdrawal from all cour
ses of the semester.
- Provide written documentation (i.e., a letter from
doctor or employer, a medical statement, a newspaper clipping), making sure pertinent
dates are clearly indicated.
- Obtain the instructor's signature on a drop slip for
each class to be dropped. A Request to Late Drop form must also be completed and
signed by the instructor(s). The instructor should provide written support, if any, on
this form.
- After you have met with an advisor, discussed the above
guidelines and completed the petition, deliver the petition to an advisor in your
college/school to check for completeness.
- Follow-up is your responsibility. Your advisor will
inform you of the method in which the decision will be communicated to you. If it is
unclear as to how or when you will be informed, call your college/school office.
