Admission/Readmission
Petition Guidelines
SEE AN ADVISOR BEFORE COMPLETING PETITION
(call your College Office for an
appointment)
Part I
Request admission or readmission for a specific semester
or summer term.
Part II
- Explain the reasons for previous low grades, including any
circumstances or unusual events which contributed to these grades. Provide written
documentation (i.e., a letter from doctor or employer, a medical statement, a
newspaper clipping), making sure pertinent dates are clearly indicated.
- State what you have been doing since you last
attended school and why you believe things will now be different.
- Specify particular actions you will take to improve
your grade point average if you are accepted by the University. Indicate courses you may
be interested in and include "self-help" courses, i.e., UC 160 Reading and Study
Skills to improve study skills such as note-taking and time management; UC102 Topics in
Career Exploration to help with career and major choices; UC 100A Adult Seminar which is
designed for adults who have not attended college or are returning after several years
away.
- Provide copies of all transcripts if you have
attended other schools. To expedite review and determination by the Exceptions
Committee, progress reports issued by instructors in currently enrolled classes, grade
cards or a student copy of transcripts will be sufficient. However, once admission
/readmission is approved, an official transcript must be sent from other schools directly
to the WSU Transcript Office.
- After you have met with an advisor, discussed the above
guidelines and completed the petition, deliver the petition to an advisor in your
college/school to check for completeness.
- Follow-up is your responsibility. Your advisor will
inform you of the method in which the decision will be communicated to you. If it is
unclear as to how or when you will be informed, call your college/school office.
