Administrative Home & Advising

A student's initial administrative home is the LAS Advising Center or the college/school that houses the student's declared major or program regardless of the number of hours completed or grade point average. Students must, however, abide by college/school academic standards.

Preprogram Status

Entry into the LAS Advising Center or a college or school that houses that major. Formal admission to the major or program may be a separate step.

• Students may be in a preprogram status until:

  • specific major(s) is declared;
  • all official copies of transcripts have been received;
  • all Basic Skills required for the program have been completed with a grade of "C" or higher and other required coursework has been completed;
  • the grade point average of the particular major/program has been achieved or exceeded; and
  • all other major/program/college/school requirements have been completed.

Note that entry into a college/school does not mean automatic entry into a specific major or program since some majors and programs have additional requirements such as specific grade point average or a specific application process.
